Singapore - shop till you drop

Got well out of Kathmandu, Nepal. Was not hard, but it took a loot of time and a lot of security controls at the airport. Scanning check in luggage, frisking me at the same time, emigration control, checking hand luggage and frisking me again, and a few other minor controls. All together it took 1,5 hour on a small airport to get from the entry to the gate.

The days after the hike to EBC was spend in Kathmandu, walking around being tourist, as I in fact are as well. Bought some new paintings for my wall, hope I still like them when I get home. Relaxing and chilling days, some dinners and drinks with my fellow hiking buddies, just had a nice time. The flight out from Kathmandu was pretty amazing, the Himalayas was visible over the clouds, great goodbye to the mountains.

3rd time in 3 years that I visit Singapore, it is not a favorite town, but it is nice and you can eat whatever local food you want from anywhere in Asia there, and to my surprise I got introduced to some nice new spots this year as well. I stayed at Heidi's place, was no doubt in my mind when she told me that I could. Which was really good. We met last year in Kuching when we stayed at Bindis hostel there, was in fact room mates there, together with a few others as well since we stayed in a dorm. Was just great to see her again, and to spend some time with her and friends of her. Feeding in Little India, and I think I had one of my best meals ever over the hotpot in

Chinatown, a 2 hour eating, lots of food and good company. Will for sure recommend to go eat hotpot food if you are a few people, very good, a real food party. Amazing!

Heidi and me at a MRT station

Found out a few weeks before that I left Norway that Maike also would be in Singapore at the same time as me. We where supposed to met in 2009 in Lima for travelling South America together for 5 weeks. But she broke her leg before we met, so we never met. Then we finally made it in Singapore, and it was fun to finally meet up, had a walk trough the Botanic garden, a nice green spot in Singapore, Holland Village and had some beers at Boat Quay in the afternoon with friends of her. Was a good day.

Not been doing much sights this year, but I have been as the title says been out shopping, a lot to be me. Have been walking one mall after an other, looking for some new short sleeve shirts and a shorts. And not all for fun, I hardly had anything summer clothes with me, only 3 t-shirts, so I needed something for the hot weather in Indonesia, and I found some nice stuff, not so cheap - but good stuff I think. And it gave me something to do. Shopping was not the main reason to stop in Singapore, nu. 1 was to meet Heidi again when I was in the neighborhood, was also supposed to meet up with Corinna from last year, but we did not make it unfortunately. An other reason to stop in Singapore, was that the flight from Kathmandu to Singapore was cheap and that I had to ship home my hiking gear, 11 kg is in the mail towards Norway as I write this.

Next stop, Ubud, Bali again
